About Me

My name is David C. Monk.  I edited an award winning documentary about beards, I worked on a Spanish Catholic talk show and now I encode and edit video in NYC.  It's been a strange trip... 

I edited a documentary about beards...Yes, about beards and the world of facial hair competitions.  Life Behind Beards won Best Special Broadcast in the 2009 College Broadcasters INC National Student Production Awards and received an honorary award during the Downbeach Film Festival.

A slightly more serious documentary I produced/edited called "Be Somebody", which tells the story of a father's struggle to provide a better life for his children.  "Be Somebody" was the Winner of Best Picture in the College and Young Adult Competition during the 2010 RE:IMAGE Film Festival and Winner of Best Documentary in the 2010 Manalapan Film Festival. 

Outside of the follicle filled world of facial hair, I'm skilled with Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro.  I've used everything from a bolex camera to the latest in video technology. I've made silent films and full length talking pictures. I'm dedicated and enthusiastic about my worked and I believe it shows in my projects.
